Fees are prorated and charged monthly, based on the current market value of your holdings.
How is my vault storage fee calculated?
Vault fees are calculated as a small annual percentage of the current market value of the metal you have in storage, prorated and charged monthly. The rate depends on the metal type and your account tier — check your Account Statement for your exact rate.
When are vault fees charged?
Fees are deducted automatically from your Available Cash balance on the 1st of every month, covering the previous month's storage. You'll see each deduction reflected in My Wallet under Transactions.
Do vault fees differ by location?
Yes. Rates can vary slightly between Singapore, Zurich, Hong Kong, Dubai, Miami, and Thailand due to differences in local insurance, security, and facility costs. You can compare rates by location under eDocuments > Vault Fee Statement.
What happens if my cash balance can't cover the fee?
If your Available Cash is insufficient, the outstanding amount rolls over to the next billing cycle with a short grace period. If it remains unpaid beyond the grace period, a small amount of metal equivalent to the outstanding fee may be liquidated from your holdings to settle the balance.
Swap Fees
Moving your bars between vault locations.
What is a Swap Location request?
Swap Location lets you move your existing bars from one Gauld vault to another — for example, from Singapore to Zurich — without selling and repurchasing the metal.
How much does it cost to swap locations?
Swap fees combine a flat handling charge with a per-kilogram freight and insurance cost that depends on the origin and destination vaults. You'll see the exact estimated cost before you confirm the request in the Swap Location flow.
How long does a swap take to complete?
Most swaps complete within 5–10 business days depending on the route, customs clearance, and courier scheduling. You can track progress under My Bars > Requests.
Can I cancel a swap request after submitting it?
You can cancel free of charge while the request is still Pending. Once bars are in transit, cancellation may not be possible and any freight costs already incurred are non-refundable.

What does Protect do?
Protect lets you lock in the current value of a portion of your holdings for a set period, shielding that portion from price drops in exchange for a premium. It works similarly to an insurance policy against market downside.
How is the Protect premium calculated?
The premium is based on the notional value you choose to protect, the metal's current volatility, and the length of the protection period. Longer durations and larger notional amounts carry a higher premium.
How long does a Protect plan last?
You can choose the coverage period when you submit a request, typically ranging from 1 to 12 months. You'll be notified before expiry with the option to renew.
Can I end a Protect plan early?
Yes, but the premium already paid is non-refundable, and early termination may be subject to a small administrative fee. Any coverage benefit ends immediately once the plan is cancelled.
